Two Americans were among the 10 women who toed the start line of the 50K race walk today in Lima, Peru. Only one would cross the finish line.
According to race results, Katie Burnett stopped racing sometime after the 35 kilometer mark. She was in ninth place and 13 minutes, 41 seconds behind leader Paola Bibiana Perez Saquipay from Ecuador.
Stephanie Casey, who was about five minutes behind Katie, finished in ninth place finish with a time of 4 hours, 50 minutes, and 31 seconds.
Katie is slated to travel to Doha, Qatar for the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships on Sept. 28. She will again race in the 50K distance.
Note: 50 kilometers is 31.0686 miles.
